Adding sound to HTML (Scott Schiller)

The web has been largely silent for years, given a lack of native audio support; HTML5 audio now promises to help bring sound capability to the masses. This talk will cover a bit of web audio history, the present state of support, some practical demos and a few gratuitous examples of where browser-based audio is going.

Scott Schiller hails from Canada, and builds front-end things on the Flickrteam at Yahoo!. In his spare time he likes photography and DJing, and using technology to mix them all together.
SoundManager 2 is a personal side project that aims to help developers make sound “just work” on the web. “Wheels Of Steel” is an example that uses SoundManager 2 to recreate a turntable interface in a browser.
