What if we could treat cancer based on the type of “influencer” cell was causing the metastasis and not based on the site the cancer was located? Adam shares his research in this area.
Precision medicine is the next wave in medical innovation. Adam Marcus’ research falls on cancer metastasis is part of this and an important piece of the global effort to understand cancer cells at the genomic level and thereby develop personalized treatments. His work has been supported by the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society.
Adam is the director of the award-winning Winship Cancer Institute Emory Integrated Cell Imaging and Microscopy Core.
He also co-founded Students for Science where twice a month, he takes his lab to primary and secondary schools in rural and urban areas in th state of Georgia and shares his love for the sciences with students. This program has touched 3,000 students and 200 schools to date.
