Javascript the Hard Parts – Closure, Scope, and Execution Context (07/27)
This is the live event for Codesmith’s JavaScript the Hard Parts hosted by Will Sentance. Before the event begins, be sure to sign in at codesmith.io/hardparts so that we can match you with a pair-programming partner.

Learn and build with the hard parts of JavaScript through intuitive lectures and pair-programming
In JavaScript the Hard Parts, we cover callbacks, higher-order functions (functional programming with JavaScript), object-oriented programming with JavaScript, closure, scope and execution context
This week we continue our mini-series: Javascript – The Hard Parts. We will cover closure, scope, and execution context – one of the toughest concepts in JavaScript
We’ll cover concepts and approaches that 80% of JavaScript engineers do not understand but are at the core of every single successful application.
This is possible because we’ll understand the essence of these tough concepts and then switch into pair-programming through the challenges to cement the concepts.
The evening session is comprised of:
7:00pm – 7:30pm: Arrive to stream and sign in to receive pair-programming instructions.
7:30 – 8:00pm: Core JavaScript concept for the challenge and introduction to the secret hack for learning to code – pair-programming.
8:00 – 9:30pm: Pair-programming.
Bring a friend who’d like to build and you can pair program together.
