Coding in Kindergarten

SCPS Kindergarten students practice their coding skills at Midway Elementary School of the Arts.

Every kindergarten student throughout the district is learning about computer programming through 10 introductory lessons in coding, which prepares these students for the future by allowing them to become familiar with technological devices while also learning the fundamentals of computer science. Students use physical movement to learn basic concepts associated with computer programming, then work in teams with small programmable robots called Bee-Bots, and finally use basic coding applications on electronic tablet devices.
